For the first time in the history of Ghana, the Office of the Minister of State in Charge of Pubic Procurement was created by His Excellency the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to advise Government on matters relating to Government Procurement and to Formulate Policies and Strategies that align with the vision of the President. He also appointed Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo as the first Minister responsible for the office.
Establishment
The Core Values of the Office of the Minister for Procurement include the following 1. Harmonize existing government policies and practices on public procurement with emphasis on Efficiency, Transparency and integrity in the procurement process across Public Entities. 2. Formulate new Public Procurement Policies, strategies, program and projects for all entities. 3. Ensure the application of the rules of fairness, competitiveness, transparency, value-for-money standards and practices for the procurement and disposal of public assets. 4. Improve relations between the Government and its suppliers, contractors, consultants and service providers in building an atmosphere of trust transparency and integrity between the Government and the general public.
