The United Nation’s Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is training about 170 small and medium entrepreneurs to equip them with necessary skills for procurement tendering and better access to UN entities that would be tendering for products.

The Minister of State In-charge of Public of Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has admonished stakeholders in the fight against corruption to reinforce all efforts at addressing the menace by making it a high-risk activity in the country.

The Minister of State in Charge of Public Procurement, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, has sent a signal to all professionals in the procurement business, cautioning them to be well disciplined as a new Code of Ethics which her outfit is spearheading will ruthlessly deal with those who will breach the guidelines.

The efforts of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister of State in Charge of Public Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Safo, towards transforming the procurement sector, have been recognized with the two leaders receiving honours at the maiden Ghana Procurement & Supply Chain Awards 2018.

While the President, Akufo-Addo picked the Outstanding Change Leadership Award, Sarah Adwoa Safo received the prestigious Sustainable Procurement Transformation Award.

Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement has said the cost of all infrastructure contracts will in the coming months be standardised to ensure value for money. 

In 2017 alone, the government was able to save the nation Eight Hundred Million Ghana Cedis (GHC 800,000,000.00) through the strict application of the procurement law in the use of single source and restrictive tendering as a method of procurement, Sarah Adwoa Safo, Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, has said.

This event brought together senior representatives of international businesses, chambers of commerce, client governments and World Bank senior management to discuss opportunities the new World Bank Procurement Framework offers to international businesses, and how it helps countries achieve high quality, sustainable and innovative development results.

The Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Friday, April 20, 2018, mounted the platform of the IMF/World Bank spring meetings in Washington DC, USA, to discuss opportunities the new Bank procurement framework offers to international businesses and innovative development results.

The World Bank has commended the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, over their efforts at introducing a policy that aims to economically empower women, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and the youth through the award of government contracts.

The Chinese Government has applauded the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, for their commitment in protecting the public purse.

For the first time in the history of Ghana, the Office of the Minister of State in Charge of Pubic Procurement was created by His Excellency the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to advise Government on matters relating to Government Procurement and to Formulate Policies and Strategies that align with the vision of the President. He also appointed Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo as the first Minister responsible for the office.
